May 30, 2020

Favorable crop condition recorded in mid-May, Winter wheat and summer grain production were expected to increase.

During the monitoring period (May 8, 2020-May 24, 2020), the Spring Wheat, One-season rice / middle rice, maize and soybean for the northeast China were being sown. At the same period, maize and early-Rice in southern China were at growing stage. The winter wheat was at grain-filling to maturity stage.

Water and heat conditions were favorable in the main summer grain production areas of China in 2020. Abundant precipitation in most major summer grain producing provinces and soil moisture was suitable for the growth and development of summer grain crops. Compared with the average of the same period in the past five years, below average crop conditions were observed in the provinces of Sichuan, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Hubei. In addition, the crop conditions of other summer grain production areas were above the average. Winter wheat and summer grain output forecast for 2020 will increase in China which is available at CropWatch website (http://cloud.cropwatch.com.cn/report/show?id=144&section_id=24007).
