Favourable crop condition recorded in mid-to-late Sep

During the monitoring period from Sep 13th -29th, 2020, spring maize in Northeast China and North China gradually entered milk ripening and maturity stage. Most of the soybeans in Northeast China were in the mature stage, while those in Jiangsu and Henan were in the filling stage, while those in Anhui were in the mature stage. In Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian, single cropping rice is in milk stage, and in most areas of southern and central China, single cropping rice is in mature stage. The NDVI anomaly spatial map shows that the crop growth in China is close to the average level in recent five years. Some areas in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan and other places experienced heavy rainfall and severe convective weather, some farmland suffered from rainstorm and flood disaster, low-lying farmland was flooded, rice and corn were flooded and damaged. In the eastern part of Southwest China, Jianghan and other parts of the farmland will continue to be too wet, which is slightly unfavorable for autumn harvest and planting. From September 13th to 29th, cold dew wind weather occurred in the mid-western Jiangnan and the late rice areas in the northwestern part of South China. The weather occurred early, lasted for a long time, and affected a wide range. Among them, the late rice in Hunan and Jiangxi provinces was heavily affected. In the north of the Yangtze River, the overall growth of crops was better than the average level, and a bumper harvest was in sight. From late August to early September, three typhoons No.8 "Bavi", No.9 typhoon "Maysak" and No.10 typhoon "Haishen", successively went northward and affected northeast China. The three typhoons had short interval and highly overlapped affected areas, resulting in crop lodging in Northeast China, and the growth trend was significantly lower than the average level, mainly located in Jilin and Heilongjiang regions. Except for Northeast China, crop growth in North China is better than that in South China, but regional difference was significant.
